മീന്‍ അച്ചാര്‍ /Fish PIcle


1] King Fish – 1kg
2] Garlic – 200gm
3] Ginger – 100gm
4] Green chillies – 15 nos
5] Turmeric Powder – 1tsp
6] Pepper powder – 2 tbs
7] Chilli powder – 3 tbsp
8] Coriander Powder – 6 tbsp
9] Fenugreek powder – 1 tsp
10] vinegar – 1 litre
11] Salt
12] Gingerly oil(sesame oil)- 2 cups


Cut the fish in to small cubes, clean it and keep it aside.
Mix together turmeric powder,red chilly powder and salt ,adding little water and marinate fish pieces using this mixture. Keep it in a refrigerator for half an hour. Grate the garlic and ginger. Slit the green chillies. Fry the ginger, garlic and green chillies in gingerly oil till no water and keep aside. Deep fry the fish pieces and keep aside. To the rest of the oil add the chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder. Add ginger, garlic and chillies and mix well. Add vinegar to the mixture and bring to a boil on a slow flame. Add enough salt. Add the fish pieces and stir. Boil till the mixture starts to thicken. . Add the fenugreek powder. Spices and salt and add if required. Fish pickle is ready..

For Better life long keep the pickle in a Glass bottle, fish pieces have to be completely dipped in the gravy, and oil has to be seen on top. Otherwise you can keep the pickle in a refrigerator and always use dry spoon in the pickle, water particles can spoil the pickle.
